About
The Beginning...
It all started in 1949, when Greece was trying to pick up the pieces after the Civil War. Alexandros's grandmother, just a young girl at the time, was left orphaned and had to figure out how to put food on the table—not just for herself, but for her family too.
Thankfully, Laconia had an answer: olive oil!
Through years of hard work (and probably a lot of elbow grease), she not only managed to acquire her own olive trees but also taught her children and grandchildren the value of good food and proper nutrition.
Think of it as her way of saying, “You are what you eat.”
The Present....
When her grandson Alexandros turned 22, he decided it was time to take the family’s olive oil beyond grandma’s kitchen table. That’s how Xanthakos Gourmet was born—not just to help his grandmother but to show the world what Laconia has to offer. And let’s be honest, he also wanted to teach everyone that olive oil isn’t just “something for your salad.”
With big dreams and a pinch of courage, Alexandros made his first major export to France—a country that knows a thing or two about appreciating good quality.
“I wish no one ever experiences what I went through, not even my worst enemy,” his grandmother often says. (Perhaps that explains her lifelong love for olive oil and cooking—far safer than fighting battles!)
Today, the younger generation carries on the tradition with fresh ideas and new energy, all while staying true to their roots.
